Insourcing at Ford? What’s Next?

Late last year, when the presidential candidates were debating the problem of American outsourcing, the Ford Motor Company started insourcing—at least when it came to casting their commercials. To promote the new Escape, the company featured actual employees who, according to Ford’s website, “went further in designing and engineering the popular, small SUV.” Whether or not you believe the Nielsen Automotive ratings proclamation that the initial Escape ad had “a high breakthrough rate, memorability and brand communication,” it’s clear that whatever Ford is doing, it’s working.
